The Nile Fountain, located in the center of the river, has resumed operation after approximately 40 years of inactivity, during which it lay dormant like an abandoned house. The Arab Contractors Company has restored, developed, and recommissioned it, now shimmering in the waters of the "Eternal River," the Nile.
The Nile Fountain, Cairo's oldest fountain, was designed and installed in 1956 by the West German firm Julius Berger under the supervision of the city government and the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
The Nile Fountain was the oldest fountain in the Middle East in 1956. It is located in the middle of the Nile River in Cairo. The fountain consists of two layers. The first layer has a diameter of 9 meters and a central high spray of 100 meters. There are 16 underwater lights around it. The other layer is an inner throw composed of a circle of 32 nozzles, equipped with 32 underwater lights, and 64 small holes at the bottom to let the falling water flow out around the main body of the fountain in the form of a water curtain. There are 16 lights at the bottom of the fountain body for lighting. The water is sucked into the fountain by a 950-horsepower pump.
The new Nile River fountain was completed by Optimum Show group in 2020.The fountain is composed of three-dimensional, one-dimensional, and high-spout fountains. The central fountain's water column reaches a height of 100 meters. This fountain is computer-controlled, with programming linking lighting, sound, and water flow to create a variety of water patterns.
